So, you’re thinking about buying a new Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge or RAM from Zappone but you want to know what type of technology you will find behind the wheel. Right? We thought so and that’s why this week we have your guide to your new ride’s technology in a nutshell. No confusing terms or names, just the facts. Plain and simple. Take a look below and stop in to see us for a test drive and drive home your new Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge or RAM before those winter months are here!

Jeep: Buying a Jeep vehicle will be one of the best decisions you could ever make. Why? Well, not only will your vehicle be insanely capable but you’ll also be equipped with some pretty amazing technologies. While the technology in each Jeep model may vary, one thing that is for sure is that they are designed with you in mind and are very user-friendly. Jeep models contain the Uconnect infotainment systems. In select models, you’ll find Uconnect 4 and in a few others, you’ll find the Uconnect 3 system. While these two softwares differ slightly, you’ll always find a large touchscreen, Apple CarPlay™, and Android Auto™ inside your Jeep! So, controlling all of your media is easy and right in front of you on the dash.

Chrysler: These vehicles are known for their crisp images and quick response time with the Uconnect system. While the Chrysler 300 and Chrysler Pacifica feature the Uconnect 4 system, you’ll be equipped with the impressive 8.4-inch touchscreen display. Some Pacifica models do feature a smaller display. Keeping you connected is the goal. With Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, USB ports, auxiliary connection, and satellite radio – there isn’t a road you’ll lose connection on. Plus, with no buttons to fumble with, Chrysler models feature a sleek, clean looking dash.

Dodge: When you choose to drive a Dodge you really are choosing to drive options. Depending on which model you decide to drive home will decide what time of technology you’ll be equipped with. A variety of touchscreen displays powered by the Uconnect system will allow you to handpick your infotainment system. Plus, like the others, Dodge vehicles are equipped with Apple CarPlay™,  Android Auto™, USB ports, and the option of navigation powered by SiriusXM traffic and travel data. If you choose a performance vehicle, you’ll be equipped with an additional display for all of your vehicle settings and information.

RAM: The RAM is a very capable brand which means that even the technology is very capable. From features like the massive 12-inch touchscreen to the available navigation feature – RAM models have been designed to keep you connected even when you’re on the job site. Or your kid’s softball game, whatever you need. Like the other makes, RAM pickups come equipped with USB ports, Apple CarPlayˀ™, Android Auto™, AM/FM Radio, and the option for an 8.4-inch touchscreen display.

If you’re anything like me, you like to try to squeeze each and every drop of gasoline that you can out of your last fill-up. Now, while you think that this is good for your wallet, it is actually bad for it in the long run, as well as your gas tank. And, I am 100 percent positive that you have heard your parents say “don’t let your tank drop below a quarter,” at least one time. This week, I am telling you why you should listen to them and hopefully, you’ll stop squeezing each drop out of each fill-up.

Fuel Gauges Aren’t 100% Accurate

I said it – that number on your dash, that’s not always accurate. Depending on your driving habits, this number can fluctuate and in turn, leave you stranded on the side of the road if you like to run on the empty side. You should consider this an estimate, not an exact mileage to empty. Don’t put yourself at risk or in harm’s way when you suddenly stop in the middle of the roadway because you were too lazy to fill up!

You’re Wearing Out The Pump

Did you know that gasoline acts as a coolant for your vehicle’s electric fuel-pump motor, as well as your engine? No? Well, it’s true. That means your vehicle needs gasoline to keep cool and when you run low, your vehicle will begin to suck in air and won’t be getting the correct amount of fuel to keep cool. And that’s bad, duh! While sucking in air, this allows hot air to get into your system and will eventually wear out your pump. In short, this repair is costly and 100% preventable.

Sediment Implications Are REAL

Each time you fill up your tank, the sediments in the gasoline settle to the bottom of your tank. Gross, I know! When you run low on fuel, those sediments get stirred up into your gasoline and are sucked up into your tank. This dirty mixture can end up in either your fuel line or your engine which will cause big, big problems down the road.

Long story short, fill up your gas tank and don’t even think about letting your vehicle’s tank dip below a quarter. Trust us, it will only benefit you in the long run!

A lot of things are changing, the seasons, the temperatures, the smells in the air. That means that October is a great month for you to get with the change and trade-in your old vehicle. Seriously, those cold temperatures are approaching and you don’t want to be stuck out in the cold with an old ride that is no longer reliable. This week we want to talk about what you should know when you’re getting ready to trade-in your old vehicle. Don’t stress – it’s fairly easy and won’t take much of your time! Check it out below and stop in to see us this October for some spectacularly spooky deals!

What’s the condition of your vehicle?

We base our trade appraisal on what type of condition your vehicle is in. The best way to get the most for your trade is by staging it. No, don’t fake it ‘til you make it, but you can make your vehicle look nice by cleaning it up a bit and it could lead to you getting a little more cash toward your old ride. So, spend a little more on that car wash and vacuum up all those crumbs!

Got dings, dents, or missing paint?

If your old ride has any dings, dents, or missing paint – fix it up like new. These type of cosmetic damages can reduce the amount you’ll get for your trade all because you didn’t want to fix them. Trust us, spend the money to repair and get your money’s worth for your trade.

Check out our Zaptober promotions!

You want to SAVE and we want to help you save. Take a look at our new monthly offers and give yourself a few extra dollars to play with then it comes time to negotiate! Often times, you can save double when you choose one of our monthly offers on top of trading-in your old vehicle.

Do your homework & research.

There are numerous sites that can help you appraise your old vehicle. This is extremely helpful on your end because it will give you a starting point for what your trade is or could be worth. Also, if you do some competitive research it could help you negotiate and get the best deal!

Regular service can go a long way.

Regularly servicing your vehicle will elongate the lifespan of your vehicle. It also makes dealers very happy when we get to take a peek under the hood and see that you have been taking very good care of ol’ Betsy. Keep these receipts/ records on file so you can prove that you’ve treated your ride right all these years!

Many people ask us the same question when they buy their new Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge or RAM. “How often do I have to service my vehicle?” And as a motorist, you should probably know this answer but there is also a lot of conflicting information out there that might make finding a “true” answer and little more difficult. But, the answer is actually quite simple. This week, we have your answer and a guide for when it comes to servicing your vehicle.

Reading the owner’s manual is probably the first thing you should do when you purchase your new vehicle but we know, for many, this never happens. Your vehicle’s owner’s manual or service booklet is the best place to get all of the information you’ll need to know when it comes to taking care of your vehicle. The manufacturer knows what is best for their vehicle and that is why you should follow their rules and guidelines.

For older vehicles, your service will be base on mileage intervals. Typically, there are two different types of maintenance schedules. The first one is for vehicles drive in “normal” conditions and the second is for those driving in “severe” conditions. While “severe” conditions vary based on manufacturer, they are most commonly known as followed:

  • Primarily short trips (5 miles or less)
  • Extremely hot, cold, or dusty weather conditions
  • Sustained stop-and-go driving conditions
  • Carrying heavy equipment/ loads or towing a trailer

Whether your vehicle falls under the “normal” or “severe” category, reading the owner’s manual will give you better insight on what type of service schedule you should be following whether it is rigorous or relaxed. In present days, modern engines and better lubricants help vehicles go farther without having to service their vehicle every 3,000 miles. Most vehicles can travel anywhere from 5,000 to 7,500 miles before having to service their ride. And if your vehicle runs on full-synthetic oil, you could travel up to 15,000 miles before stopping in for an oil change!

For comments, questions or concerns, please feel free to stop in or give our service department a call to discuss or set up an appointment! We look forward to servicing your vehicle with Zappone!

Living in Upstate New York means that you have to be ready for whatever weather conditions may be thrown our way. One day it is sunny, 70 degrees and the next it could be snowing. So, with these ever-changing weather conditions, we have to be prepared with what to do if we find ourselves stuck in the mud or snow. I know, I’ve mentioned snow twice already and fall hasn’t even fully started yet. But, it’s better to be prepared than to be sorry. This week we are sharing our tips to getting unstuck, take a look and let us know what tips have worked best for you in the past!

  • Keep it moving, if you feel yourself beginning to get stuck in the mud or snow, keep your vehicle moving if possible. Any type of forward motion is a good thing and coming to a complete stop will only cause problems.
  • Don’t keep spinning your wheels. When you’re stuck, you’re stuck. Don’t continue to push on your gas pedal, this will only deepen the rut that you’re stuck in. Shift into your lowest gear to give yourself more control.
  • Rock it out – while gently pressing on your gas pedal, shift between drive and reverse to create a rocking motion to help free you. Doing this repeatedly can help get you unstuck but if it doesn’t work after a few shifts, move on.
  • Add traction – use items like rubber mats, blankets, sand, kitty litter, sticks. Place these items in front of your tires and gently press on your gas pedal. You’ve lost traction and that’s why you’re stuck, these items can help your tires get a grip and pull your vehicle out of the rut.
  • Keep your wheels straight – don’t turn them.
  • Dig, dig, dig. If you’re still stuck, try to dig the snow or mud out from around your tires and make a pathway to solid ground if you can.

At this point, if your vehicle is still stuck in the snow or mud it might be time to reach out to a friend to help push or tow your vehicle out of the rut. You can even reach out to a towing company for additional assistance. Stay safe out there friends!
