Hosting Or Attending: How To Stay Safe This Holiday! | Granville, NY

Can you believe that it’s Thanksgiving week? We sure can’t! But it’s time to get ready to celebrate and show our thanks for plenty of things this holiday season. But first, we want to share with you a variety of ways to stay safe and healthy while giving thanks this week whether you’re hosting or attending a Thanksgiving dinner. We hope you’ll take some time to check out those tips below and if you’re ready to upgrade to a brand new CJDR, hurry on in to see your favorite CJDR team right here at Zappone in Granville! Let’s get started! Hosting a Thanksgiving Gathering Celebrating this holiday virtually or with the people you live with is the safest choice this Thanksgiving. But if you are having guests to your home this holiday, we encourage that people follow the steps that will keep everyone safe and healthy this week. Those steps include: Consider having a small outdoor meal with family and friends who live in your community and limit the number of guests at your home. Have conversations with guests ahead of time to set expectations for celebrating together. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and items between use and make hand sanitizer accessible to guests. If celebrating indoors, open windows and doors, if possible, to bring fresh air into your home. A window fan in one of the open windows to blow air out of the window is a great option to help circulate air and will pull fresh air in through the other open windows. Limit the number of people in food preparation areas. Ask guests to bring their own food and drink. If sharing food, have one person serve food and use single-use options, like plastic utensils. Attending a Gathering Celebrating virtually or with the people you live with is the safest choice this Thanksgiving but if you choose to attend a gathering, we want to help make your celebration safer. In addition to following the guidelines that will keep everyone safe, below are a few steps to follow if you’re attending a gathering. Bring your own food, drinks, plates, cups, and utensils. use single-use options, like salad dressing and condiment packets, and disposable items like food containers, plates, and utensils. Wear a mask and safely store your mask while eating and drinking. Avoid going in and out of the areas where food is being prepared or handled. Take your garbage with you. This will help cut back on contamination. Upgrade Your Ride Here!

7 Bad Driving Habits That Might Be Illegal! | Granville, NY

Would you consider yourself a good driver? Well, if you were a bad driver would you even admit it? Probably not. Neither would we. This week we are bringing your seven bad driving habits that it’s time to shake and start fresh this upcoming winter season. Think you need a little motivation to start practicing safe driving habits? Maybe motivation like a brand new CJDR? We think so too and we are here to help you get behind the wheel of a new vehicle that fits your lifestyle! But first, let’s talk about bad driving habits! Using your cellphone while behind the wheel. We know it might be difficult to ignore your phone when you’re behind the wheel, but it’s essential to your safety that you keep your eyes on the road ahead. Distracted driving has become an increasingly important issue, more states have cracked down on the usage of a mobile device when driving. Driving with headphones on Listening to music coming through your vehicle’s radio can be distracting enough. Now add headphones to your ears. This is shutting out important vehicle and road noises that may be key indicators something is wrong. Changing lanes without signaling Whether you’re in heavy traffic or not - it’s important to signal when you’re turning or changing lanes. Drivers need to know your intentions. Don’t be lazy, turn your blinker on and be a good driver. Speeding We get it, you’re running late and traffic isn’t heavy - it’s easy to step on it a little bit. But did you know that in 2015, IIHS reported 27% of crash fatalities were related to speeding? In short, slow down and get there safe. Tailgating Following a vehicle too close while not paying close enough attention is a recipe for disaster. And can even result in a ticket. Keep at least one car length behind and stay safe. Not having your headlights on Only needing your headlights at night is a habit to break. When weather conditions are poor or you’re traveling at dusk, turn them on. It’s important to make your presence known when you’re on the roadway. Not wearing a seatbelt Click it or ticket. It’s pretty simple and it keeps you safe. According to NHTSA—at least 27 million Americans still don’t buckle up yet seatbelts saved almost 14,000 lives in 2015 alone. So do us a favor, buckle up. Find Your New CJDR Here!

We encourage you to take a look at those tips below, stop in to see our team and put them to good use! We look forward to helping you get started and get behind the wheel of a brand new CJDR that you love. See you soon at the dealership! Call Ahead - it’s a great idea to call ahead to either schedule a test drive with our team or to ensure that the vehicle you were hoping to test drive is still available at the dealership. Before You Drive -  before heading out for the test drive, take a few minutes to go over the features on the inside and check out the interior cabin. Having a list of features you were hoping for as a checklist can help greatly here. Take a look under the hood, in the trunk, the backseat - can you picture yourself in this vehicle? The available features are important to understand before moving further in the test drive. Drive Your Normal Route - most often, people don’t test drive the vehicle on their current route or roads they travel most often. This is important because it can help you get a feel for how the vehicle will perform on your most traveled routes. Be sure to test the brakes and accelerate gently up to speed a few times to test the driveline. We’re testing how the vehicle shifts. Does it feel smooth and natural? Around The Tires - once you arrive back, be sure to spend some time look at the tires and wheels that are currently on the vehicle. Are the inner and outer sidewalls smooth and free of any damage, scuffed or ripped? Do the tires have good tread or what’s their rating? Schedule A Test Drive Today!

Your Guide To Easy Travel With Kids! | Granville, NY

While summer is almost over, you still might have a little extra surprise for the kiddos. You might be hitting the road for a little last-minute summer fun. And if that’s the case, we have put together a few tips to ensure that this trip will be easier than ever before. Take a look at our list and if you have any tips of your own, reach out to our team so we can get them added to our list! But of course, before you hit the road, stop in to see our team to upgrade into a brand new CJDR this summer. And don’t forget to ask about our new specials to save big! We hope to see you soon! Always pack light. While packing for children might seem like you need a lot of gear, only take the necessities. This will help keep clutter to a minimum and you won’t be stressed trying to manage a bunch of different bags when you’re packing and unpacking. Keep snacks on deck. Like you, your children will get hungry during the trip, always keep snacks ready and accessible when needed. It’s also important to keep everyone hydrated but don’t overdo it. This will lead to a lot of unnecessary pit stops. Keep the car ride simple. Pack games or coloring books to keep the kiddos entertained for the car ride. This will help keep you from going crazy when they ask ‘are we there yet’ for the millionth time! If your vehicle has entertainment systems, be sure to use them! Take kid-friendly pit stops when on the road. Kids usually get a lot of built-up energy when in the car. So make enough stops to wear off that energy and places your kids can stay calm without stressful, rushed situations. Research your destination. While you might not think this is important, it is. You’ll want to know if the places you’re planning to visit are kid-friendly and fun. Also, will you be needing a car seat or stroller? It’s important to know these things ahead of time. Always leave extra time. This might be the best tip we have to give. Always always always give yourself extra time in case things go awry and you need to handle a stressful situation. The Summer Service Your CJDR Wants! Details Inside! | Granville, NY

It’s hot here in Granville and if you’re hot, it means that your vehicle is just as hot, if not hotter! While temperatures are rising for ourselves and our vehicles, it’s super important to make sure that everything is in proper working order! Below, you will find a few essential services to pay extra attention to whether you’re servicing your CJDR yourself or you’re stopping in to see our team! Either way, keep your focus on these services and as always, feel free to reach out to our team if you have any questions or need assistance! Check The A/C When things get hot, you don’t want your A/C system quitting on you. We encourage you to take preemptive action and have this system checked. You can either troubleshoot this system on your own or have a mechanic check it. But in short, if your system isn’t blowing as cold, you might need to top off the refrigerant with fluid. Test The Battery Hot temperatures and vibration have a way of killing a battery. This makes it crucial that you have your battery checked, tested, and a new one installed at appropriate times. Change Your Oil As always, it’s important to stay on top of your oil change schedule. If not, you can greatly impact your vehicle which can lead to overheating and breakdowns. We encourage you to check out your owner’s manual if you’re not sure when you should be changing your oil and schedule an appointment with our team! Check On The Coolant Now that we’re in summer, your vehicle’s radiator is working overtime. And it’s important to keep your vehicle from overheating, keep coolant guards from corroding, and lubricate your water pump. If you haven’t flushed your coolant in over two years, it’s time to flush it out. Inspect Your Brakes While summer is known for long and short road trips, it’s crucial to inspect your brakes and brake pads regularly. This is especially important if you tow boats, campers, or trailers. If your brakes have been squeaky or not working to their full potential, we encourage you to hurry on in today and let our team get you prepped and ready for the road ahead! At Home Popsicles In Three Easy Steps! | Granville, NY

Things are heating up here in Granville and one of the easiest ways to cool down is with an ice cold popsicle! Don’t have any? No worries - this week’s blog is dedicated to making some homemade popsicles! We know it might sound time consuming and difficult, but it’s only three steps so we’re sure you can handle it! Check out those details below and contact our team when you’re ready to upgrade into a brand new CJDR from Zappone this June! We hope to see you soon! Things you’ll need: Popsicle mold (we recommend a silicone mold) Fruits and flavorings Popsicle sticks And of course, a freezer Step 1: First, you’ll want to mix your fruits together. If you’d like your popsicles to be on the sweeter side, add in flavors like honey, agave nectar, or sugar if needed. Don’t forget that when frozen, the flavor of the popsicle won’t be as strong. We suggest making your mixture slightly sweeter than you would a smoothie! Step 2: Now it’s time to pour your mixture into your mold! While the mixture will naturally expand when freezing, it’s important to leave a little space at the top of the mold. Let it freeze! Depending on the thickness of your popsicles, it should take anywhere from 4 to 8 hours to freeze solid. Pro tip! Turn your freezer to the coldest setting possible. The quicker they freeze, the softer they will be in the end! Step 3: Finally, it’s time to unmold your popsicles and enjoy them! We suggest running your mold under warm water for about 10 seconds each. Then, your popsicles should pop right out and you can either enjoy them or place them back in the freezer for a snack later!
