Deer crossing intersections can be a serious hazard for drivers, particularly in areas with high deer populations. These animals can suddenly dart out onto the road, causing accidents that can result in significant damage to vehicles and even injuries to drivers and passengers. There are several things that drivers can do to be more vigilant when driving near deer crossing intersections. The team here at Zappone CDJR has some tips to help you stay safe on the road: Slow down in areas with high deer populations. When you're driving through an area known for deer crossings, reduce your speed to give yourself more time to react if a deer appears. Use your high beams. When driving at night, use your high beams to increase your visibility. However, be sure to dim your headlights when other vehicles are approaching. Stay alert. Keep your eyes on the road and scan ahead for any signs of deer activity, such as deer crossing signs, wildlife overpasses or underpasses, or other animals on the side of the road. Be prepared to brake. If you see a deer crossing the road ahead, slow down and be prepared to brake if necessary. Do not swerve. If you encounter a deer on the road, do not swerve to avoid it. This can cause you to lose control of your vehicle or collide with other objects. Instead, brake firmly and try to avoid the deer if possible.

Zappone CDJR's Spring Road Trip Tips: Check in on your vehicle Before leaving for your trip, we encourage you to have our service team look over your vehicle to ensure things are in proper working order. From your fluid levels, brakes, tires, and anything else that can cause an issue, it’s important to make sure you’re ready to handle any situation. Anticipate trouble areas & have a plan It’s hard not to find yourself at the wrong place at the wrong time when it comes to traffic, we encourage you to pre-plan these trouble areas and have a plan to avoid them at all costs. Try traveling outside of rush hour times when passing through busy areas. It’ll cut back on your time inside the vehicle and won’t cause a headache! Have documents ready and accessible It’s always important to have your insurance cards, registration, and other important car documentation easily accessible in the event of an emergency. Keep them in the front of your glove box ready to go. Clean your ride before & during the trip From top to bottom, give your vehicle a little TLC cleaning. Give it a wash, vacuum and be sure to throw out any unnecessary items, wrappers, receipts, etc. You’ll regret not cleaning out your vehicle before hitting the road, trust us. Listed below are our tips for allergy-proofing your vehicle! If you’re lacking the time or tools to try out these tips for yourself, schedule a service appointment with the CJDR service team and leave it to the professionals! Zappone CJDR’s Tips For Allergy-Proofing Your Ride: Clean It (Inside & Out) Getting in and out of your vehicle means it’s near impossible not to accumulate dirt, grime, and dust that’ll make your allergies worse over the course of the season. We recommend starting by wiping down your dashboard, seating, and vents as often as possible with a damp microfiber cloth and a solution with no irritants/ harsh chemicals. Next, vacuum your carpeting and be sure to clean and let your floor mats dry completely. Also, be sure to frequently stop by the car wash to clean off the exterior of your vehicle. Contain It Oftentimes your clothing and shoes are the way allergens make their way into your vehicle. While we can’t avoid this completely, it’s a smart idea to remove the articles of clothing that have come in contact with those allergens if possible. Try storing them in a separate area and keep them confined. Using a plastic bin in your trunk can work great for this. Be sure to keep your windows closed during peak pollen times to keep allergens out. And go the extra mile to ensure that your weather stripping in intact and every window/ door shuts properly so allergens can’t creep in. Replace It If you can’t remember the last time you changed your air filters, the perfect time is now. It’s also a good idea to have them checked at the end of the pollen season to ensure they are still in proper condition and that they have not deteriorated over the season. All-weather floor mats are a great way to cut back on the number of allergens that make your carpeting their home and consider investing in some good seat covers. Lastly, stay away from air fresheners or cleaners that have harsh chemicals that could cause nasal irritation.

If your tire’s tread has been balding, then you’re driving with little to no grip. But don’t worry Zappone CJDR has listed our simple and easy ways of checking your tread depth down below using nothing more than your spare change! Zappone CJDR Of Granville’s Tips For Checking Your Tire Tread: The Penny Test: Insert a penny right into the tread groove with Lincoln’s head facing upside down in the tread facing toward you. Once the penny is inserted, if you can see the entire head, your tread depth is less than 2/32” and that means you need to replace your tires ASAP. The Quarter Test: As we did before, place the quarter upside down into the tread groove with Washington’s head facing toward you. If the tread reaches Washington’s head, you have at least 4/32” of tread remaining, AKA your tires are still in good shape and there’s nothing to worry about! Tread Wear Indicator If you don’t have any coins laying around, take a look at your tread wear indicator bar that is molded onto the tread of your tires. These bars are found at the bottom of the tread grooves in multiple spots. When these bars are visibly flush with the adjacent ribs, your tire has no more than 2/32” of tread left. This is a visible indication that you need new tires for your vehicle!

The 43rd Empire State Winter Games (ESWG) Torch Relay kicked off Sunday, Jan. 29 from two starting points, Buffalo and New York City, as the beginning of its five-day journey that culminates in Lake Placid for the Opening Ceremony of the Feb. 2-5 Games. As a presenting sponsor Zappone Chrysler Jeep Dodge joins dozens of communities to welcome the torch relay along the two routes that will merge in Lake Placid. The torch relay is expected to involve up to 30 communities, schools, sports clubs, mascots, arenas and other venues as the ESGW flame winds its way east and north. In connecting three corners of New York state, the relay symbolizes a unifying spirit, inspiration and resilience as the ESWG celebrates the power of sport and community. At some stops, the torch will be feted with parades and by local athletes and teams, dignitaries and special ceremonies. Upon the torch’s arrival in Lake Placid Thursday, Feb. 2, the Opening Ceremony will take place and the competition begins the next day. The ESWG, the largest multi-sport amateur athletic winter sporting event in North America, is expected to draw around 2,000 athletes competing in more than 30 events in Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake, Paul Smiths and the surrounding area.
